What better motivation to go (more) vegan than to experience all of these health benefits yourself. Conducted studies have proven what a vegan or vegetarian-based diet can do for our bodies and it’s a whole lot of good!

  • Lowered risk (23%) of developing Type 2 Diabetes by managing and normalizing blood sugar levels in every meal.
  • Good for overall heart health. The nutrients and antioxidants from whole grains and fresh produce protects the cells from oxidative damage and inflammation that can potentially cause heart problems.
  • Vegans have 75% lower risk of having hypertension and high blood pressure. This is because fruits and veggies are rich in potassium that naturally lowers blood pressure, they are also low in fat, sodium and cholesterol-free. Lessening meat and dairy consumption makes blood less thick, easier to pump thus lower in pressure.
  • Protects from certain types of cancer – colorectal, prostate and breast cancer. The natural fibers in a plant-based heavy diet helps in removing excess hormones and waste from the body.
  • Better digestive health. Studies show that the fiber from fruits and vegetables causes a reduction in inflammatory gut bacteria and at the same time increases the protective species of bacteria for better gut health and digestion.
  • Improves kidney function. It may help lower the chance of getting kidney disease, or even keep early kidney disease from getting worse from a fiber-rich diet with reduced protein fermentation in the body.
  • Clearer skin and complexion. Fiber and anti-oxidants are the main ingredients for better skin health.
  • Less “body” odor. When your body processes meat it can result to your body exuding a certain scent, with less protein fermentation and digestion, less smell!
  • Better over-all health from the lower caloric intake and lighter mood.

With all this being said, you don’t have to go cold-turkey vegan, explore, do your research to make sure you’re eating enough, and do it at your own pace and time to sustainably make it a part of your daily life. Whether it’s replacing a meal, a day or doing vegan weekdays, it’s your journey so have fun with it and listen to your body!
